Isabel Morales Bondy is a Mexican-Danish documentary director and award-winning journalist. She is interested in how people at the margins of society see and tell their own stories, and she uses co-creative processes as part of her filmmaking approach. Her multicultural background shapes the way she tells stories, bringing together investigative journalism and social documentary, with a commitment to tell the stories of people whose lives are rarely visible.

Over the past five years, she has worked intensively on investigative documentaries for Danish broadcasters as a documentary director, undercover reporter, journalist and host. Known for her ability to build trust quickly, she has gained access to closed environments to expose systemic abuses, labor exploitation, and social injustices in Denmark. Her latest series, Underdanmark (for DR), where she was both director and investigative journalist, sparked national debate by documenting migrant labor exploitation, its ties to organized crime, and how major companies benefit from these practices. For Underdanmark and her earlier undercover work, she received the Kristian Dahl Award - presented to young journalists who succeed in engaging the wider public through bold, rigorous reporting.

Alongside television, Isabel’s films have screened internationally at Hot Docs, Raindance, Encounters, Message to Man, and at institutions including the Institute of Contemporary Arts (ICA) in London. Her work has also been featured on online platforms such as VICE and AEON, and has received support from the Danish Film Institute, British Film Institute - Doc Society, the Danish Ministry of Education, and the Durham Wharf Foundation, among others.

She holds an MA from the Royal College of Art in London and a BA in TV Directing from the Danish School of Media and Journalism. Isabel is currently based between Copenhagen and Marseille, where she is developing a feature documentary.
