A documentary series for Denmark’s national broadcaster DR, Underdanmark investigates the hidden world of migrant workers who literally build the country, yet remain invisible in public debate. Through an unprecedented collaboration with migrants at the bottom of the labor market, journalist Isabel Morales and her team infiltrate major contractors in construction and transport to uncover dangerous working conditions, illegal pay practices, and ties to organized crime. Blending investigative journalism with social documentary, the series keeps the workers’ voices at its core—and their testimonies helped spark parliamentary debate, union campaigns, and policy discussions on labor rights in Denmark.
